Days of distress

"It may be that the Lord will see my distress and repay me with good for the curse I am receiving today."

2 Samuel 6:12

It's no fun when you feel like you cannot do anything right and everyone notices as well as tells you about it.  However, if you can step outside of yourself and look at it as a way of learning and growing in Christ, then the mistakes you do and the cursing you receive may just turn out to be some of the best blessings and milestones you could ever have asked for.

Surprise visits

David said to Abigail, "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who has sent you to me.  May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands." 

1 Samuel 25:32-33

Pay attention to surprise visits - sometimes we need to heed the God-message that comes through whilst in the midst of the visit.

Lend to many...rule over many

”However, there should be no poor among you, for the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, if you only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all these commands... For the Lord your God will bless you as he promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.  You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.”

Deuteronomy 15:4-6

Follow God, obey his commands, give openly and with a happy heart to the poor and needy.  In turn, you will be the lender to many, never being the one needing the lend; you will rule over many, never being the one to be ruled over.  

Friends, be generous with one another, for you cannot go wrong when you do -  it guarantees the attention and affection and blessing and prosperity of God - 

OH, he is so, so good!!

What God tells you to do: listen and do.

"Did I not tell tell the messengers you sent to me, "Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything of my own accord, good or bad, to go beyond the command of the Lord - and I must say only what the Lord says?"

Numbers 24:13

No matter how enticing the offer may be, no matter how desperately you long to have what is being given, if the Lord has told you not to accept, then you mustn't accept.  Yes, it seems so hard to say 'no' at the moment, but God has a plan - trust him!  

Therefore, with all might, courage, and confidence, say, 'no thank you', turn and walk away.

Everything the Lord says

"Everything the Lord has said we will do."

Exodus 24:3

Let's get this kind of Israelite faith - let's do what the Lord tells us to do.  Yes, the Israelites initially grumbled, complained, (like we do now), and took forty years to finally trust and do what the Lord said, but once they did, boy-oh-boy, their lives were so blessed and life was good.  So as God's children, we can not only learn from the Israelites by refraining from grumbling and complaining at what God tells us to do, we can take the faster route and just listen and do, grasping hold of God's blessings right now!! 

So friends, take the short way to the good stuff - just do what God is telling you to do!!

Put the dead-life behind you

Leave everything that doesn’t produce fruit in your life, (or everything that doesn’t produce life in your life), and follow Jesus - leave everything and follow your heart. Hence, leave the bad and follow the good – follow Jesus.

Stop looking at the what-if’s and look at the Will-Do instead.  Go for it and don’t look back.

The WAY

“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient path, the path where the good way is and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls.”

Jeremiah 6:16

Ask him! And when he answers, listen to, and follow, what he tells you!

Peace and tranquility

“… always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

1 Peter 3:15-16

Being gentle and respectful in word and deed towards others equals a good night’s sleep.

Hence, treating others opposite of said above will rob you of all peace and tranquility.

Be a light for Christ

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Set your mind on Jesus

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Christ Jesus is revealed… do not conform to evil desires… be holy in all you do…” 1 Peter 1:13-16

Set your mind on Christ, so that nothing from the world, or from Satan, can ever set you back.

All you need to live is Jesus!!

Success and Christ go hand in hand

"God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed."

2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB

As God's child, you have His grace, which means, you are sufficient and supplied to the hilt in all good things necessary to equip you to rock this world of ours.  So go forth and live the abundant life he's given you.

This is your life my friend, so live boldly, love heartily, and prosper greatly.

Be still and listen

“… And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.”

-1 Kings 19:11-12 ESV

Whether we are in severe trial or tribulation,  or wonderful peace and contentment, God is with us.  Therefore, during each scenario, good or bad, we must get out of ourselves and the world, and we must take time to stand completely still and quiet before God and LISTEN - listen closely - because God is speaking to us and until we quiet our minds we won’t be able to hear his gentle whispers with the answers and prayers we are seeking answers to.
