My words, my voice

“The tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison… out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing cursing.  My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”
James 3:8-10

Dear Lord,
Be my words, be my voice, keep me out of my flesh.

One word is all it takes

"... A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything - or destroy it!"
-James 3:3-5 MSG

The power of the tongue

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].” Proverbs 18:21

What are you speaking? What type of words to you say? What kind of conversations do you engage in?  Start listening to yourself and I’ll bet that most of the problems, issues, misunderstandings, and thought processes are due to idiotic, useless, and idle words that we speak on a day to day basis.

Let’s begin to change and/or improve the way we speak so that the words we say lift up, help, and influence others. I truly believe the quality of our lives will change dramatically for the better.

Words

“Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,  but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.” Proverbs 13:3

Boy, I need this today!  My mouth has been non-stop about people that I’ve been less-than-happy with lately.  Think it is time for me a mouth make-over - God help me. Ever had these kinds of days?

Feel free to join me if you need a mouth make-over, and let God be our strength!

The tongue is a fire

"And the tongue is a fire... With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness! Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing.  These things, my brethren, ought not to be so." James 3: 6, 9-10 AMPC

Our tongues can lift up, tear down, bless, curse, love, hate, win, lose, help, and hurt; our tongues can bless lives, or ruin lives.  So, let's take some drastic measure to keep our words full of life, full of praise, full of love, full of blessings, and full of kindness.  Yes, it is easier said than done, but if we want all that God has to offer for our lives, it is something we must do.  So, starting today, let's put a bridle on our tongues, and make sure that all the words we speak are good and God-approved... guaranteed, it is definitely worth our while.

Staying out of trouble begins with zipping your lip

“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles.” Proverbs 21:23

I know how hard it is to keep our mouths shut when we want to put someone in their place, or when we are hurt, but it is utterly important that we let God handle it! It is time for us to grow up, zip up our lips, walk away, and let the Lord be the one to put another in their place.  If God does it, it’ll only have to be done once, it’ll be done the right way, and it’ll be done in a way that the offender probably won’t want to do it again.

Again, I know how hard it is not to say anything when we are distraught, but I guarantee that if we do, God will elevate us a step closer to victory than we’ve ever been before!
